A Crypto-based Augmented Reality Game. Why should we care?
The telecommunications company Tencent, which owns more than 50% of the online games market in
China, has ventured into blockchain and
cryptocurrencies with a new video game.
"Let's
Hunt Monsters", is a kind of hybrid between Pokémon
Go and the popular CryptoKitties, however the virtual pets will be based on
Ethereum. Thus, players can hunt monsters using the best features of augmented
reality and the ability to register assets in blockchain.
It will be at the beginning of May when the game is
launched to work in the city of Chengdu, China, on iOS and Android devices.
Due to the fact that the fever for Pokémon Go and the
CryptoKitties has descended, Tencent takes advantage of this situation, taking
advantage of the best of both games. Statistics show that already 3.4 million
players have registered in Let's Hunt Monsters.
There are 243 monsters available to be captured with a
ball like in Pokémon Go, called "monster sealing ball". The creatures
come from popular cartoons broadcast in China or some character from Chinese
mythology. Others fall into the category of assassins or shooters.
Using blockchain, users can buy, sell and exchange
creatures, as well as add enhancements to their monsters.
The game could revolutionize the market of
applications of augmented reality in China, since Pokémon Go did not arrive in
this country, being a service associated with Google, which is censored there.
It is through the WeGame
platform that Tencent publishes its games, and nearly 200 million people use
this platform.

Thanks for your post. I’ve been thinking about writing a very comparable post over the last couple of weeks, I’ll probably keep it short and sweet and link to this instead if thats cool. Thanks. 3d configurator
